The resurrection of Dot!

If you read my edi-torial in the last issue, you know my dearest collar had died. I did not give this collar up to wearing out easily. I continued to wear it even after I had admitted it was dead. I wore it until it was literally to the point where it could not be worn. Finally, I had to say good-bye to Dot.

As you can see from these pictures, Dot was really and truly dead. The individual dots for which it was named had visible wear. The D had taken on a dark coloring that would not clean off and had disappeared one day as the leather that held it in place had completely disintegrated. The D had been drifting along the length of Dot, always needing to be re-centered. One morning when I went to put on Dot, the D was just gone. All of these I could live with, and had for quite some time, as I kept searching for the missing D. However, the leather that encircled my neck was beyond worn out with cracks and splits as it was truly disintegrating. Dot had reached the point where I had to stop wearing it.

Just because I had to admit that Dot was no longer wearable did not mean that I was in any way willing to give Dot up. I made Dot, and I could re-build this precious collar of mine. The true dilemma for me was, what to use?
